About the Author

John Garner is a nationally recognized ministry leader having 20 plus years of successful ministry in the local church and eighteen years of national leadership in consulting, writing, and teaching at LifeWay Christian Resources. He is a graduate of Mississippi College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His expertise centers on sports and recreation ministry programming, staff management, facility management and architectural consultation in the design of sports and multipurpose leisure service facilities. John has assisted in the launch of several leading sports ministry organizations toward successful growth, and global impact. He currently serves as chairman of the board for Infinity Sports and as a board member of the Tennessee Baptist Foundation.

John’s writing/editing and content provision includes the textbook “Recreation and Sports Ministry Impacting Postmodern Culture”, The 440 page Operating Manual for Church Recreation and Sport Ministry Centers and the Guidebook for Planning Recreation and Sports Ministry Facilities”. He has been published in numerous magazines and theological journals as well as contributing chapters and essays in publications on recreation/sports ministry programming, administration and theology.

 John has taught on both the undergrad and graduate school levels as guest lecturer and adjunct professor at colleges and graduate schools across the United States. His active in motivational speaking and conference leading for both ministry oriented and business groups.

He and his wife Judy live in Franklin, TN and have two grown children and two grandchildren.
